All Minnesotans deserve a safe and reliable transportation system, no matter where they live, what they look like, or which mode of transportation serves them best. We must improve all modes of transportation across the state, including transit development and services, road safety improvements, bridge replacements, freight and passenger rail projects, and active transportation modes.
The federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law provides Minnesotans with a once-in-a-generation opportunity to maximize the federal funds the state is receiving, to fix roads and bridges, improve roadway and pedestrian safety, and invest in further transportation system electrification and improvements to address climate impacts.
Minnesotans expect our roads and bridges to be safe and efficient, but too many are being left to crumble, unrepaired. I have been advocating for long term investments in road and bridge repairs and safety improvements statewide since I was first elected.
I have fought for increased investments in transit development and services that will make our state a better, more equitable place to live by ensuring every Minnesotan regardless of region or income has the ability to get where they need to go.
Minnesota students deserve to be safe traveling to and from school. As Vice Chair of the Transportation Committee, I have been able to prioritize student safety by investing in safe routes to school to assist cities, counties, and towns statewide with local infrastructure projects to help ensure that students can safely walk or bike to school. We were also able to make the first ever investment in active transportation which will improve pedestrian safety and the ability to move around our community without vehicles.
I recognize that to prevent ongoing effects of climate change and to mitigate its impacts, we must prioritize strategies to cut carbon emissions to preserve our precious environment and natural resources. We must tackle the climate crisis by making critical investments in the electric vehicle transition to public transit infrastructure.

Minnesota’s economy is recovering even as our state continues to grapple with the ongoing pandemic. However, we know that this recovery isn’t being felt by everyone, especially the working families that are helping our state bounce back.
Far too many Minnesotans are left without the necessary support to ensure that they’re able to care for their loved ones or themselves without risking financial ruin. This was true before the COVID-19 pandemic, and has been compounded since. Whether it’s a long-term ailment or a brief sickness, working families deserve the economic security to get healthy without losing a paycheck which is why I will continue to fight for Paid Family and Medical Leave along with Earned Sick and Safe Time.

Housing is one of the biggest expenses for families. In fact, more than 500,000 Minnesotans are struggling to afford their rent or mortgage.
In the house I will continue to work to keep unsheltered Minnesotans safe and provide pathways out of homelessness, find ways to build more homes Minnesotas can actually afford to rent or own, save the affordable homes we already have, create pathways to homeownership for more Minnesotans, and reduce the cost of housing for homeowners and renters.

Our state’s economic recovery is built on the backs of working families, but too many of these Minnesotans are being left behind as the wealthy and well-connected get richer.
In order to build an empowered workforce and a prospering economy we can all share in, I have fought for investments in workers, providing pathways to good jobs, support to small businesses, and ensuring our workplaces are safe.

I have been fighting to make healthcare more accessible and to reduce the cost, including the cost of prescription drugs. We’re also rebuilding our health care workforce, helping ensure Minnesotans can get care when and where they need it.
I have long advocated for reducing healthcare costs by creating a MinnesotaCare buy-in option with quality coverage and affordable premiums and strongly support single-payer healthcare on the national level.

All Minnesota students deserve a world-class education, no matter where they live, what they look like, or their learning ability. That’s why House Democrats are fighting to meet the academic and mental health needs of our students after an extremely challenging couple of years.
We need to ensure that we deliver mental health support to our students, eliminate funding gaps in English Language Learning and special education, create a more equitable public education system, and invest in our youngest learners through universal pre-K.

Public safety is extremely important to all Minnesotans and that’s why we are doing everything it takes to fund solutions that work. We must deliver the right tools to law enforcement and community members at the right time, and directly address past failures to invest in public safety solutions that actually work. We’re also funding our state’s legal system to ensure that all Minnesotans have equal access to justice, not just the wealthy few.
